Ghaziabad will soon be able to boast of a wedding plaza and a golf course. The Municipal Corporation of Ghaziabad (MCG) has decided to develop a wedding plaza near Hindon and the golf course near Sai Upvan.
The MCG has hired a private firm for preparing a detailed project report (DPR) on these proposals. On the basis of the DPR, the agency will finalise green areas, parking lots, and entry and exit points near the border.
"The wedding plaza and the golf course will be developed on a built-operatetransfer (BOT) basis," says chief engineer, MCG, O. E Tiwari. The golf course and the club will come up in 50 acres near Sai Upvan. The agency plans to introduce private participation and develop it on the same lines as the golf course in Greater Noida.
"Although we will be building it on international specifications, we plan not to introduce a hefty amount as the fee for the membership. These will be state-ofart constructions with multi-level parkings and extensive plantations," says Tiwari.
The wedding plaza will come up near the river Hindon and the MCG plans to construct eight to 10 marriage halls on a 55,000 sq m area.
"The main idea is to declog the trans-Hindon area where the marriage season means traffic jams all around. Also there are areas that do not have adequate facilities for marriage arrangements. A mini village in itself that has proximity to Delhi will make it a popular destination for holding marriages," he says.
