GDA Doubled Infrastructure Budget

GDA Board Clears Rs 2249-cr Budget And Doubled Infrastructure Budget From Rs 1,173 cr To Rs 2,249 cr

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), in its board meeting, doubled the infrastructure Budget from Rs 1,173 crore to Rs 2,249 crore. The board meeting, which was chaired by the State Principal Housing Secretary Harjinder Singh, passed the budget for infrastructure development. Although 48 proposals were included in the meeting but 34 proposals were taken into consideration out of which 28 proposals were passed.
The board meeting passed the proposal to extend the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) track from Vaishali to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) complex via Vasundhara, Kinaoni and Indirapuram. The board further passed the proposal to revise the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Metro track from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Stand at Ghaziabad.

The GDA board passed the budget of Rs. 2,249 crore for the year 2008. The income has been targeted at Rs 1,173 crore from different sources. While during 2007 the authority's income was projected at Rs 1,904 crore against the target of Rs 1,183 crore income. The expenditure during 2007 was at Rs 508 crore against Rs 746 crore.

But this time the GDA has focused its priority on infrastructure. Mainly on metro tracks on two different areas- of new bus stand and the CISF complex. The GDA would incur an expenditure of Rs 15 crore on expansion of National Highway-24 to 8 lane expressway from UP gate to Lal Kuan at Ghaziabad. The GDA would provide this amount to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
