Maya Repackages Noida For Investors: The area to the investors in a fresh way
With recurrent incidents of violence sullying the image of Greater Noida the industrial showcase of Uttar Pradesh the Mayawati Government is making all out efforts to re introduce the area to the investors in a fresh way.
The government is advertising Greater Noida as "a city planned from scratch to remain ahead of times offering world class environment for growth."

To attract investors, it is using phrases as "own, develop and operate India's largest Sports City in Noida."

The state government has also earmarked 750 acres of land in Noida, exclusively for this purpose.

Also to regain the trust of industries, the government has given the additional charge of Labour Commissioners to the CEOs of the twin towns.

Besides, it has constituted an Industrial Relations Unit comprising two deputy superintendents of police to sort out the industry related issues.

On August 14 during a protest by farmers on the issue of the land acquisition issue the police had to open fire in which five persons were killed and many others were injured. This was followed by the lynching of Graziano Transmissioni's CEO by factory workers on September 23.

Five days later, another CEO of a software company, Expedien E Solutions, was attacked.

The government officials admit that the incidents have temporarily caused an anti-industry climate.

"The investment is still not a problem in Noida and Greater Noida because of its strategic location. The demand for land is phenomenal.

Yet there is a need to improve the environment for which steps are being taken," one of the officials said. Units of more than 35 companies, including some big international names like Videocon, Daewoo Electronics, Moser Bear, Honda Siel, Escorts Yamaha, Asian Paints, LG Eelectronics, HPCL, already exist in Greater Noida. Others like Wipro, Pepsi, Vectra have acquired spaces. Besides, Greater Noida has seven notified SEZs and eight formally approved ones.
