National Highways To Get A Major Makeover

The government finally seems to have responded to the pleas of residents to ease traffic problems. Soon, NH 24, 58 and 91 will be broadened and around five underpasses will be built to ease traffic flow for vehicles moving from Noida, Indirapuram (Trans Hindon), Delhi and vice versa. Also, work on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Delhi Merut Expressway will begin soon.

In a meeting held on Saturday last, the Kendriya Path Parivahan and Brahma Dutt, secretary of National Highway Ministry took a few important decisions to make traffic smooth in the long run. DM, Hardesh Kumar informed the media about the important decision taken in the meeting. He informed that an eight-lane expressway would be constructed right from Delhi-Nizamuddin to Meerut.

There will be traffic movement restrictions and two exit and entry points at Modinagar and Bulandshahr (NH 91). NH 24 will be converted into eight-lane expressway till Dasna along with five underpasses between Noida and Indirapuram. For the expansion of the Highways, no land issues will prevail as the land has already been allotted for the work. Present in the meeting were the officials of GDA, GNN, Awas Vikas, NAHI and other important departments.

As of now, work on the Delhi-Meerut expressway is on full swing. The expressway will be around 62 kms long and 90 m wide. The expressway will start at Saidpur, Hussainpur to Bhojpur, finally ending at Kalchina. From here it will go to Dasna NH 24.
