Rs 1,535 cr to revamp Ghaziabad okayed

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) Board has approved an expenditure of Rs 1,535 crore for the development of the city in the current year. During the year, special attention will be paid to extend the green belt and maintenance and repairs of the old buildings in the city.
Rs 800 crore are to be spent on various development schemes. Rs 20 crore are earmarked for improving and creating green belt of the city.

Rs 200 crore will be incurred on development, including land development, while Rs 500 crore has been kept as reserve funds.

The authority board has approved Rs 1,856 crore as income and Rs 1,535 crore as expenditure for 2011-12 and saving Rs 321 crore
till the end of the year.

In all, Rs 1,856 crore, including Rs 640 crore from the previous year, was the total income for the year, though the actual income for the year was Rs 1,216 crore. The expenditure for the New Year has been pegged at Rs 1,535 crore.

Though the expenditure is higher than the actual income, Rs 321 crore will remain as the savings at the end of the year.

Major proposals include setting up offices in Kamla Nehru Nagar, parks, open grounds and city forests etc.
Land use in the Sadulpur scheme in Loni under khasra No. 1215, 1216 will be changed from industrial to residential as per the master plan of the authority.

Construction of a multiplex parking on Ramte Ram Road near nagar nigam water works office, change in Ansal township layout in Duda Heda, land acquisition in Gram Arthla for regional entertainment park and deploying more house guards to get encroachment vacated were some of the other proposals which were approved.
