NH-24: 20km stretch to be widened

NOIDA: After a delay of almost five years, the Uttar Pradesh government has granted a green signal to the proposed widening of NH-24. In a meeting held last Thursday, the authorities sanctioned the widening of the 20-km stretch of   NH-24   to improve connectivity between   Delhi   and parts of Ghaziabad and Noida. Work has now begun on widening the existing 4-lane stretch between Uttar Pradesh border and Dasna to eight lanes, including a service lane on either side.   Although the first proposal in this regard was made in early 2006, it never took off. Since then, residents and regular commuters on the stretch kept making persistent demands for the revival of the project. The authorities finally granted an approval to begin work last week. The project cost, however, has escalated from about Rs 20 crore to over Rs 200 crore now. The Ghaziabad authority has asked the   Noida Authority   to bear about one-third of the total cost since the widening work will ease considerable traffic fl

Things To Know Before Buying A property Under Construction

Discounts of 15-30% are lure enough to opt for realty projects that are work in progress. However, be prepared for endless delays and other problems that plague such properties. When 30-year-old Gurgaon-based Vikas Aggarwal decided to buy a house last year, he opted for one that was being constructed. "I had leased a house for a year, so I thought it would be a good idea to go for a flat that is inching towards completion. The developer was offering a 15% discount on the market rate and promised to hand it over in January this year, says Aggarwal, a CA who works with an MNC. But it has been three months past the deadline and Aggarwal is yet to get possession." Every time we go to the builder, he gives us some or the other reason for the delay. Instead of shifting to our own house and saving on rent, we had to renew the lease, says Aggarwal's wife, Archana. Wake up to the reality  Aggarwal's case isn't unique. These days, project delays have virtually become a no

Property Sales Dip After Circle Rate Hike, Registrations Have Come Down By Almost 30% In 6 Months The euphoria over the city's booming real estate sector is slightly wearing off with the government hiking the circle rates thrice in the last one year. Buyers now are wary as they have to shell out more on stamp duty and registration of properties. Interestingly, market watchers say the demand for high-rise apartments has not been affected much.According to revenue officials, the registration of plots in Gurgaon has come down from the average 150 per day to about 110 since October last year. As a result, the revenue of the state government has also gone down, they claim. The circle rates, also known as collector rates, in some areas have been increased by nearly 150%. While the government move has applied brakes in registration of plots, developers say the sale of apartments in condominiums has not witnessed a downward trend. Their logic is that executives, who prefer houses in high
